Logita and Chelbesa: incredible Ethiopia washed coffees from Moplaco
Gems from Eleanna Georgalis
In this blog post, we are going to feature our favorite coffees from long term partner, Moplaco.
Especially Logita, located in Bensa area, is our 2nd purchase and promising coffee. We can say Logita has everything: mouthfeel, brightness, sweetness, fruity ness, flavor intensity and vibrant floral notes.
Chelbesa was our first trial harvest that surprised us with its overwhelmingly flowery flavors(of course in a good way): was almost like a flower infused tea!
We can honestly say both Logita and Chelbesa are quite nice coffees and one of the best Ethiopian washed coffees we've ever tried.
Another big difference is their look. Both of them are quite uniform yet Logita looks big and almost no chaffs attached. Chelbesa beans are tiny with a lot of chaffs yet we didn't have to remove the chaffs before brewing: didn't see anything harmful from the chaffs of Logita.
We enjoyed both gems from Moplace with our head brewer with her recipe

In this cup, the aroma was already bursting even before having a sip. We experienced perfumed flavors of peach and pomelo with green tea like floral flavors. White peach notes are especially pronounced: almost like a fruit bomb!
Each flavor was quite distinct with bold sweetness and vibrant acidity. Quite intense and "powerful" cup in a way that reminds us of Karindundu Kenya(the best Kenya coffee we've ever sourced by 2023). Especially its thick moutnfeel and bright acidity.

Unlike Logita which was plethora of bright fruit tones, Chelbesa offered a super flowery cup displayed on a distinct sweetness and smooth mouthfeel throughout.
In a cup, we found jasmine that reminds us of some sort of Chinese jasmine tea (that with flowers in the tea pot), peach flavors and so many florals. All those flavors are displayed by its gentle acidity due to its distinct sweetness of caramel.

The Story
This is our second purchase of Logita, from Moplaco. The first purchase of Logita was back in 2020 season. This year's Logita is impeccable with amazing sorting and delicious fruit flavors that represents its ripeness. Definitely one of the best Ethiopia washed coffees we've ever roasted. Unlike Chelbesa that offers bright fruit flavors, Logita offers ripeness, sweetness and vibrant notes with a great intensity. Logita is an opposite type of Ethiopia coffee to Chelbesa yet we can honestly say Logita is on the same level.
Our Tasting at Cupping Table
Logita delights with distinct notes of black tea followed by intense flavors of white peach and white grape in the finish.

The Story
We purchased this washed process coffee from our favorite producer in Ethiopia! Moplaco Company (owned by Heleanna Georgalis) has been offering so many great coffees to the industry with their refined processing and best care to the quality. We can truly say this lot is the best Ethiopia washed we've ever roasted. If there are any problems, the amount of chaffs are overwhelming yet you even don't have to pick out the chaffy beans.
Our Tasting
This incredibly clean Ethiopia washed delivers perfumed flavors. Expect mango and sweet peach encompassing honeysuckle florals followed by a vibrant finish of black tea.
