Planada Geisha is ready to brew!
We offered Planada Geisha from Tarqui, Huila, Colombia early this May toward the end of June.
To be honest, it's kind of hard to brew and degass properly this coffee. Now that we started getting full flavors from our very first batches.
Today we are reviewing pour over of Planada which was roasted on 4.May.2023
This Geisha had been humble till 60 days post roast but now it's become quite flowery coffee with so complex and florals notes.
We brewed this coffee with our head brewer using Ek43 (Cast steel burr, sand paper alignment) on V60.
In the cup it was full of flowery notes displayed on its silky body and perfectly balanced taste. Expect acerola and white peach accompanied by notes tea rose, jasmine, white tea and then delicate hibiscus florals in the finish. We would say this coffee is quite consistent through out the finish and very well balanced with its acidity that reminds us of some white wines but not a strait forward type, it's quite complex with so many delicate yet distinct flavors.

Tarqui terroir
We are so excited to offer our very first purchase from Tarqui region. Tarqui is one of the most prominent coffee producing area recently. Tarqui town is located in Huila region, probably the most poplar specialty coffee producing region in Colombia; Huila coffees are renowned for its brightness and floral flavors. This Geisha is pretty decently produced and carefully dried at a parabolic drier. The cup was standing out at our cupping table even with a sample roast yet it was extremely hard to tweak and elaborate the profiles to make it a production level. We are proudly offering this coffee and showcasing the outcome of our hard work.
Cupping review
Delicate yet vibrant, Planada is full of perfumed floral notes with some classic Geisha fruit flavors; especially the elegant notes of tea rose is quite remarkable and interesting. Expect juicy acelora followed by delicate flavors of white peach then sweet notes of tea rose and jasmine florals.
