Anniversary Special Lot: Kotowa Las Brujas Geisha

Celebrate Our Anniversary with the Season's Masterpiece On August 13th, we are celebrating our anniversary! To mark this special milestone, we are thrilled to release our most exceptional coffee of the year: the Kotowa Las Brujas Geisha.

Hand-selected specifically for our anniversary by our sourcing partner and SCA Academy coffee expert, John Vaz Matias(JV), this is undoubtedly the best Geisha of the season.

We have been purchasing exceptional Panama Geishas from JV every year since 2023. JV is known to be extremely strict when it comes to cupping and scoring, making high marks exceedingly difficult to achieve. Despite his rigorous standards, this Kotowa lot earned a phenomenal 93 points—the absolute highest score we have ever received from him. This is a true testament to its breathtaking cup profile and guaranteed world-class quality.

(Please note: While this exclusive lot is excluded from the standard Anniversary Sale discounts, it is proudly featured in our incredibly valuable anniversary set, "the 9 stars box"!)

"Las Brujas" – The Birthplace of BOP Lots

"Las Brujas" is not just any plot; it is an incredibly prestigious and exclusive terroir within the renowned Kotowa estate, meticulously managed by producer Ricardo Koyner. This is the exact same micro-region where Kotowa cultivates their legendary Best of Panama (BOP) auction lots. This coffee embodies the absolute pinnacle of Panamanian terroir and potential.

Roaster & Brewer's Notes

This is definitely the best natural Geisha we’ve tried. It showcases an incredible ripeness with fresh raspberry flavors. While the natural process characteristics are beautifully present, we feel the inherent flavors of the Geisha cultivar as much as, or even more than, the process flavors themselves. The natural process simply made the coffee taste more ripe and boosted those inherent qualities.

In the cup, we get a tart raspberry body, vibrant rose florals, and juicy, sweet cantaloupe. The body is super clean and fruity—almost like a refined juice or tea—yet super sweet like raspberry jam. As delicate side notes, we also pick up hints of lemon, orange, lychee and a clean jasmine floral finish.

Tasting notes: Tart raspberry, vibrant rose, sweet cantaloupe, raspberry jam, lemon, orange, clean jasmine, lychee

Anniversary Special Lot: Kotowa Duncan ETH47

An Extremely Rare Gem for Our Anniversary

To celebrate our upcoming anniversary on August 13th, we are releasing an incredibly limited, highly sought-after microlot: the Kotowa Duncan ETH47.

Due to its extremely low production volume, securing this coffee is a true rarity.

(Please note: While this exclusive lot is excluded from the standard Anniversary Sale discounts, it is proudly featured in our incredibly valuable anniversary set, "the 9 stars box"!)

"The Best ETH47" – John Vaz Matias

ETH47 (an Ethiopian heirloom variety cultivated in Panama) is known for its unique and captivating cup profile. Our sourcing partner and SCA Academy coffee expert, John Vaz Matias, personally evaluated this coffee and declared it to be simply "the absolute best ETH47." Coming from a world-class expert, this is the ultimate stamp of approval.

Cultivated in the Renowned "Duncan" Plot

This exquisite ETH47 was grown in the "Duncan" plot of the legendary Kotowa estate, meticulously managed by producer Ricardo Koyner. Known for its cool climate and unique micro-terroir, the Duncan plot slowly matures the coffee cherries, resulting in intense sweetness, complex acidity, and a truly elegant structure that perfectly highlights the unique characteristics of the ETH47 variety.

Roaster & Brewer's Notes

These beans are exceptionally dense and hard, a true testament to their slow, high-altitude maturation. Through our final roast profile, the inherent flavors of the ETH47 cultivar are beautifully and accurately represented. The cup opens with a distinctive grapefruit body and vibrant lavender florals, perfectly rounded out by the deep, refreshing sweetness of honeydew. The flavor structure is so pronounced and expressive that even when brewed at a lighter ratio of 13.2g to 255ml, the cup remains incredibly vibrant and complex.

Our tasting notes: Grapefruit body, vibrant lavender florals, honeydew

Recommended recipe: 13.2g/255ml, TDS1.30, brew time 3:30-4:30

Recommended espresso recipe: 1:2.5-2.9, 30sec
