Fincas Miersch
The back story between us
The first experience of Miersch Family's coffee was with their Limoncillo Pacamara in 2016, roasted by our sample roaster. There was unprecedented banana notes with lots of tropical fruits yet the variety's bright acidity was nicely represented. We do remember that their Pacamara natural iced pour over was perfect for deadly hot summer here in Tokyo. It was almost like a banana flavored iced tea.
The Mierisch family, especially Erwin Jr. "Wingo" Mierisch was the first coffee producer we've ever met in real, at SCAJ 2017. It was just after the opening of our first cafe in Tokyo. It was like fate for us. Since then, their coffees have been our annual regular line up.
About Fincas Miersch
In 2017, we bought 3 bangers from 3 different farms of the family. Limoncello Pacamara was boldly sweet, balanced and winey with its delicate acidity. El Suspiro Orange Bourbon was full of tropicals, especially papaya notes with distinct pear finish. San Jose Javanica was one of the best coffee of the season. We bought it for substitute of Ethiopia washed but it actually tasted like a Geisha with its nice citrus notes and white wine vibes.
In 2018, San Jose Yellow Pacamara was full of yellow peach and distinct muscat with its decadently bold sweetness. Definitely one of the best coffee of the year amongst some great Geishas such as Naranjal Geishas from Berlina Estate and Don Cayito Geisha from Los Angeles that won the COE 1st place in 2018. We are really impressed with its micro climate created by the long day time due to the Apanas lake.
In 2019, San Jose Pacamara was also one of the best coffee in our line up of the year.
2020 We bought Las Delicias "low temperature" anaerobic natural as our first ever anaerobic natural process coffee! Las Delicias was incredibly clean like a good high grown washed coffee with vibrant notes of violet, strawberry and lemon followed by the cultivar's iconic green tea notes. This coffee has many different sides that changes according to the degassing. We really enjoyed the uniqueness of Las Delicias.
2021 We've already bought some crazy Nicaraguan and Honduran coffees for this season! 2 iconic lots from Nicaragua and 2stunning lots from Honduras!
