Finca Kalithea/Very clean Processing
Finca Kalithea is a BOP ranking producer with their Caturra(#1 2015) and Geisha(#8 2019). Thanks to the Volcan terroir, their coffees are renowned for their decent processing: its clean cup, brightness and density. Our first purchase from Kalithea was a Geisha natural in 2021, as a limited coffee for our wholesale partners. We were literally astonished by their incredible processing that reminds us of some delicious washed Geishas with its bright and citrusful notes. This year they pushed forward their fermentation yet still beautifully clean and successfully give it more complexity with pleasantly thick mouthfeel in the cup but still no fermentation flavors detected. Besides the clean and bright flavors like we found in the 2021 harvest, we get a pretty good structure, more sweetness and complexity.
This magically processed Geisha natural delights with very clean and bright flavors with vibrant lavender florals that was not found in the 2021 harvest, which remind us of some competition grade high grown Geishas. Opening with vibrant kumquat flavors followed by jasmine florals and vibrant notes of lavender, that leads the way into a sweet mango finish. Over all, this is Kalithea Geisha natural is much better than last year’s one and definitely the best coffee in our current line up.
